Crawlspaces, because of their tight and limited space, can often cause more complications in a home than a standard basement. Normally with dirt floors, and with mostly stone foundations, crawlspaces are the perfect gateway into the home for moisture, humidity and radon. Crawlspace encapsulation is a process that should be in any basement health experts’ knowledge base. By encapsulating you control direct flooding from reaching floor boards and support beams, limit the transfer of humidity from the crawl space to the rest of the home, and give radon mitigation systems a fighting chance at doing the job they were designed for (if one is needed).
